Saving Lives Through the Gift of Blood Donation
Nineteen years ago, Jessica's mother almost died after giving birth to Jessica and needed several pints of blood to save her life. Jessica began her involvement with blood donation when she was fourteen, organizing a blood drive at her high school in Johnston. Jessica has dedicated the past four years to the lifesaving mission of blood donation. She continued to organize blood drives for several years, and volunteered with LifeServe Blood Center, finding a great passion in this incredible cause.
During her six months as Miss Iowa, she has continued her partnership with LifeServe, but has also volunteered with the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center in eastern Iowa, and the DeGowin Blood Center in Iowa City. She has donated blood, spoken to donors at recognition events, helped with High School Challenge, assisted at blood drives in West Des Moines, Davenport, Iowa City, Ames, Adel, Johnston, and Grimes, and held a concert at LifeServe benefiting the center.
